In Nouméa, on Thursday March 15th, 1973, with the money Qantas gave us in compensation for our missing luggage, we buy some clothes best suited to the New Caledonia's climate. In the afternoon we go and visit the aquarium, fed with sea water, where we can admire beautiful specimens of coral. Then we go for a swim in the warm water of the lagoon. The next day, Friday March 16th, we start on a trip around Grande Terre.
This album shows pictures from the first part of the day, between Nouméa and Koné.

Near Bourail, the Roche Percée (the holed rock)
The Bonhomme (the man): sculpture made by the action of the sea, the rain and the wind, in front of Roche Percée.
The exit of the Tunnel that allows, at low tide, to go through the cliff of Roche Percée.
Jacques is taking a picture, at the edge of Roche Percée.
A view from inside, at the other end of the Tunnel.
The beach of Roche Percée seen from the top of the cliff.
From the top, at the other side of the cliff, view of Baie aux Tortues (Turtle Bay).
A closer view of Turtle Bay.
Farther north, on Poé beach, still near Bourail, a banyan of large dimension.
